Here is my attempt at color with the "American Palette" which is basically cadmium yellow pale, cadmium red, and French ultramarine. All secondary colors are hand mixed from these. It helps to keep the warms and cools balanced so you don't get a muddy look to it.
This was done in class with an instructor. Keeps me moving. Otherwise I'd spend way too much time on a piece trying to perfect it when it's just an exercise in tone and color. Oil on canvas, 9" x 12" |
